About Me, Michael Anthony Cicchi

Hello there! I’m Michael A Cicchi, the person behind Travel And Life Experiences. If you’re into travel, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve been on this amazing journey, exploring the world since 1987. Yep, over two decades of adventures across more than 20 countries.

It all started with a backpacking trip across India that ignited my passion for discovering new places and cultures. This trip was actually a pilgramage to Mayapur. My page about India at cicchitravels.roamreverie.com has the story. Throughout the years, I’ve ventured through bustling cities, serene landscapes, and tucked-away corners of the globe ( volcanoes are my favorite ), including a few times when I got totally lost.

This isn’t just about my travels; it’s also about how a fascination turned into a career. With each trip, I gathered insights and stories longing to be shared. I wrote of my travels throughout the years and accumulated a stack of journals. This eventually  transformed into my journey of blogging and vlogging about travel (with the advent of smartphones and laptops) eager to offer others a window into the world I experienced. Much of what I wrote in my journals while traveling can be found on my backstory website; cicchitravels.roamreverie.com

Now, I’m all about building a community of travel enthusiasts. I want to create a space where I can share my authentic experiences, helping others find joy, tips, and inspiration in their own journeys. My website here; www.roamreverie.com is my attempt to combine my travel and other life experiences with making some money online. This is my ultimate goal, making a small amount of money while enjoying a large amount of passion. The making money part will, hopefully, come from my affiliate  marketing side of www.roamreverie.com which I am trying to make as professional as I can.

So, if you’re considering diving into the world of travel blogging or vlogging yourself, I’ve been there, and I’m here to accompany you. Let’s connect over shared passions and explore these opportunities together.

Throughout this website, I’m going to dive into my insights and expertise in travel explorations and discoveries—I’ll share some of the lessons I’ve learned and how you can apply them to your own globe-trotting adventures.

Pioneering in Travel Blogging: Insights and Inspirations

Now that you know a bit about my travels, let’s dig into what I’ve learned along the way. With over 20 countries ticked off my list, I’ve amassed a treasure trove of expertise in travel preparedness and finding hidden gems.

Travel isn’t just about reflection; it’s also about being ready for anything. My knack for preparation balances my spontaneous wanderlust. I combine personal experiences with in-depth research to spot what makes each destination unique.

Through countless adventures, I’ve learned that every journey offers lessons that shape our storytelling. Sharing these experiences is what connects me with my readers and adds value to my travel narratives.

But enough about what I’ve seen—it’s time to talk about you. If you’re eyeing a career in travel blogging or vlogging, I’m here to help you find your voice. I believe everyone has a story worth telling and can leverage their own experiences to inspire others.

Beyond travel, I have my family and they do play a large part of what I have to say here.  I got married in Sumatra Indonesia and I do  not even count how many times I had to return there because of that marriage. My son moved to Washington state so we return there and Vancouver Canada so we find ourselves over there quite a lot. It is a good thing we love Vancouver.

Beyond Travel: Personal Interests and Hobbies

When I’m not hopping from one country to the next, I indulge in a few other passions that keep my life exciting and balanced. Photography is a big one for me—it helps capture the essence of my travels and tells stories in a way words sometimes can’t. I am no professional photographer by any standard, using only my cell phones and laptop, but I seek only to share my experiences in a basic and simple way. Instagram and Pinterest are about the easiest ways I can think of to do that. The links to my accounts are included on my website profile  page.

I’m also a huge fan of exploring local cuisines. There’s something magical about understanding a culture through its flavors and dishes. Cooking and dining with locals often lead to some of the most memorable experiences. Staying with families for a few hours or days really will give the chance to eat and drink like a local.

My family plays a crucial role in my life, providing me with support and inspiration. They are the grounding force that keeps me connected to home, even when I’m thousands of miles away. I do always try to travel with at least my wife, one of my sons, or a combination of us four when we can not all travel together. I still love the solo backpacking trip though, and that is my forté. When we do travel together, I go off alone early in the morning for my “photo walks” which take about two hours. When I return to the hotel room, my family is about ready to hit the road for explorations.

Lifelong learning is another core part of who I am. Whether it’s through cultural studies, or languages, I’m always eager to grow and learn more about the world we live in. Learning languages is a major interest for me so I do learn a few phrases of the official language of each country I go to. I can speak three of them farely well.

Traveling extensively has enriched my life in unimaginable ways. Meeting diverse cultures and people opens your mind and heart. Every trip is a step towards personal growth, something I continually strive for and encourage others to pursue.

I hope this glimpse into my adventures and interests has inspired you. Whether you’re here for travel tips or just to learn more about me, I’m thrilled to have you along on this journey. Let’s continue exploring the world and everything it has to offer together!

  1. It’s great to hear how passionate you are about exploring different places and cultures around the world. I enjoy traveling too when I have the time and money. One of my favorite trips was to San Francisco, which I did with my sister, her husband, his brother, and their friend. We saw the Golden Gate Bridge, visited some tourist spots, and took lots of photos—it was a really memorable experience.

I usually travel with a group too, and taking photos of the places we saw was a big part of the fun, even if it was just with a phone. I like how you do “photo walks” during your trips—that’s a great way to explore quietly and capture moments.

I’ve never been to Indonesia and haven’t seen a volcano yet, but reading your story makes me want to add those to my list. I think your blog is a great source of inspiration for people who haven’t traveled much but want to start exploring. Thanks for sharing your journey!
